About Patty Perkins

I'm Patty, writer of the devotional blog, Beside Quiet Waters. I love writing, reading and taking long walks with my camera. I've been married to my loving husband for 40 years. We have two grown sons, two lovely daughters-in-law, and two amazing grandchildren. I am thankful for a place to share spilled ink, in hopes of encouraging others to find daily hope and inspiration in God's Word.

Hearts like water

Lamentations 2:19 “…pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord…” (NIV)*

Let it all out

like liquid flowing freely

the tipping pitcher poured,

emptied—before the Lord.

As Hannah, weeping for a child to hold.

As Mary, grieving her child—gone.

Holding nothing back

at his feet, splash.

Then, see what grows from seeds

watered by sweet release.
