Mark 6:20 “…When Herod heard John, he was greatly puzzled; yet he liked to listen to him.”*

Go ahead, speak in unlikely places
share as the chance comes along
even if hearts appear calloused—
cold as stone.

Despite status, title or position
all have the same God-shaped soul
when a heart is softened and ready—
only God knows.

Something must have quickened in Herod’s heart as he heard John speak because John’s words puzzled him. The story comes to a tragic end and Herod orders John beheaded (see Mark 6). I can’t help but wonder if Herod had paid attention to his puzzled heart and pursued answers…if the outcome could have been different. He was closer to believing than outward appearance showed.

Thanks for the reminder Patty, that we all have the same God shaped soul. And only He knows the hearts. Not our job to scrutinize the readiness.
