Jeremiah 23:29 “‘Is not my word like fire,’ declares the Lord, ‘and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?'” (NIV)*
Chip away jagged pieces
of this stone cold heart.
Sharpened edges formed
by life undone, protruding.
If left alone to grow
would rolling—
then hurt others.

I’ve heard it said that hurt people hurt people. That’s motivation to deal with disappointments and let the Lord bring healing. Otherwise, those jagged edges might very well jab someone else and the whole cycle continue.
So, chip away. Let the rocks be broken and purified. Let the Word do it’s work in me.

Oh this is WONDERFUL, Patty–the poem is truth in Perfection, and I love what you said afterward. Everyday my own sharp places poke me–and I know what if they’re poking me, they’re surely poking others; as you said, great motivation to keep laying it at the cross, and continue walking out our healing with confident hope and His beautiful Grace. God bless you BIG–love, sis Caddo

Thank you, dear Caddo! So glad it made sense. Love your comment about the cross—there is our hope, indeed!

So true! I am finding that it takes time. But God is so good. He never leaves us while we’re in this, at times painful, honing process

Yes…he’s always with us–shepherding us through the process. Reminds me of Matthew 11:28 “Come to me…and I will give you rest.”

When our sharp edges are broken on the Rock, painful as it may be, then we can be softer for others. Thanks for this beautiful poem.
