A broken spirit

Psalm 51:17 “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit…” (NIV)*

Pride rises tall

Demanding its way

A broken spirit bows down

Seeking God each day.

Pride knows everything

Resists being told

A broken spirit seeks wisdom

From pages of old.

Pride refuses help

Blind to reality

A broken spirit sees need

Accepts community.

………………..

Pride won’t hear

Turns deaf ear to God

A broken spirit listens

Waiting, His gentle nod.
