When the Lion Roars, Spread the Word

He said: “The Lord roars from Zion and thunders from Jerusalem.” — Amos 1:2

The lion has roared — who will not fear? The Sovereign Lord has spoken — who can but prophecy? — Amos 3:8

I have heard the lion’s roar, and
cannot stay silent.
And so, I write,
to spread the thunder.

May His Words leap from this heart
and onto the page,
spreading like fire, and
giving voice to the lion's roar.

Embers, glow.
Winds, blow.
Flames, grow —
when the Lion roars.
……….

When the Lord proclaims His kingdom message — who can but speak and tell what they have seen and heard?

In Jeremiah 20:9 we read, "But if I say, 'I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,' his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot."

When the Lord gives a Word it is an ember longing to become a flame. Released from the mouth or pen and given oxygen, the flame takes a life of its own. Flames grow when blown on and given air. Flames suffocate when the lid is placed on the jar.
Oh Lord, help me to spread Your Word. To be faithful in the opportunities You provide. Fuel the embers by winds of heaven. May flames spark change in human hearts and may Your Word not return void when You, the Lion, roar.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
