Psalm 1:2-3 “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.” (NIV)*

To delight in God’s Word is to find joy there. To meditate on it day and night is to make the daily choice to dwell on His promises and truths, instead of the cares and distractions of this world.

Then, there will be fruit. Even in winter, leaves will be evergreen if one stays planted by the water–the Word–like a tree.

After months and months of thinking about it, I offer my first post. For years I’ve read God’s Word and journaled the gleanings, only to box or pile them up to…collect dust? When maybe, just maybe someone might be encouraged by them?

A reader of The One Year Bible, my hope is to express what comes of time bent over the Word. The ponderings may be a poem, words of encouragement, or simply a prayer. Consider yourself invited to join me on this trek through the Bible as pressed against paths of real life. And…don’t be surprised if there grows some fruit.
