Almonds, here?

If life can bud from a wooden staff—

almonds from grain rubbed thin

how much more from a committed life—

fruit from the spirit within?

It’s nothing to God to make a staff bloom…or bulbs sprout as winter thaws.

It wasn’t just any staff, but Aaron’s—his selected out of the twelve tribes of Israel. At God’s bidding buds appeared, then blossoms and almonds. All from an inanimate stick. The how and the why…who can know? But to you, Creator, it is nothing to you.

I find hope in the fact that he can work in and through anything—or anyone—he chooses. Random sticks, grounds thawing or even hearts of flesh.

Numbers 17:8 “…Aaron’s staff, which represented the house of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds.”*
