Sometimes the path of God leads to what looks like a dead-end. The Egyptian army approaches from behind and the Red Sea blocks going forward. The dead-end can be frustrating, especially after listening, trying to obey, then still feeling trapped.

When terrified moments threaten, there’s one who hears. So, cry out to Him. Then, being still, look for a way not previously seen.

Maybe He’ll change the heart of someone who seemed forever hardened, or a check arrives unexpectedly. Maybe He doesn’t divide the sea, but provides a raft to paddle over deep waters. He may guide around the sea.

Maybe the Egyptians won’t be destroyed, but diverted. Or, they’ll realize they’re not going to win, and they quit. It could be with kindness and lots of fig cakes the enemy is won over!

Maybe circumstances don’t change, but outlook does. With a fresh perspective it becomes possible to walk moment by moment, gripping tighter to His hand and trusting for each small step of dry land.

However He parts the sea, may praise rise to the Lord, as Moses and the Israelites sang in Exodus 15:2 “The Lord is my strength and my song, he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him.” (NIV)*
