Matthew 26:39 “…he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will but as you will.'”*
fully human
perfection fell down
face parallel
to the man-trodden ground.
for this cup to be taken
his soul did cry
could this plan…
be revised?
if divinity can honestly
pour heart’s plea
how much more then
dirt-shaped me.

Jesus’ honesty took nothing away from his obedience. It was that crux of a moment when he put it out there and bared his soul to his Father. He owned a deeper determination to follow through with the Father’s plan.
If a holy Jesus bared his honest soul—then surely, so can I.
