He has given me a new song to sing, of praises to our God . . .
— Psalm 40:3 TLB

Every day, a new song rises,
fresh and clear and melodious —
like birds singing at sunrise on a spring morning . . . spring fresh on me.
Grant the old songs
of condemnation and discouragement no air time.
Let the new song, shrill and true,
displace the songs of the night.
Let this new song of praise rise from the dust.
Let its refrain lift up and lighten the load,
its melody bring hope and cheer.
It’s a new day — rejoice.
The new song has risen,
take up its melodious phrase . . . and sing.
……….
We read in Psalms 118:24, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (ESV).
And in Psalm 143:8, “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life” (NIV).
The prophet Jeremiah tells us in Lamentations 3:22-23, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassion’s never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (NIV).
Gone, the anxiety.
Gone, the unrest.
Gone, the self-pity.
Gone, the discontent.
Gone, the fill-in-your-blank, when we let the new songs of God's truth fill our hearts and minds.
Thank you, Lord. Every morning you give me the clean slate of a new day. Fresh. Unmessed up. This morning I choose to praise You. To let the old refrains of self-condemnation and complaints take a break. I wait expectantly to see what you’re going to do today. I choose to rejoice!
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
