Be Ready to Catch God’s Wisdom and Do Something with it

The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.

The Lord holds a basket of apples to disperse to
those who fear Him.

What would I do, what would you do,
if His apples were thrown your way?

Would you catch them and be well fed, or
would you simmer them long,
and make apple butter and apple jelly instead —
preserved for another day?

If you're not looking,
you'll miss them when thrown your way.

Too often, this has happened to me.
Apples are thrown my way, and uncaught,
land out of reach.

There they lie, forgotten and useless.

I want to be a safe, good place for the secrets of God. I want Him to tell me things reserved for those who fear Him. How many apples have I missed because I wasn't expecting to hear from Him? When the Lord confides in us, it's for our nourishment and growth. He wants us to get to know Him better.

He speaks to those who fear Him. And if we fear Him, we'll be listening for Him.

I don't want Him to have to bonk me on the head to get my attention! I want to actively anticipate that He will reveal Himself to me through His Word. I want to be ready to catch the apples He throws my way. To be ready with a bushel basket . . . the bushel basket being my journal.

This is why I journal: To capture apples of wisdom He throws my way.

However we use His "apples" of wisdom and guidance, there will be seeds not meant for me to eat or discard. Seeds are to be planted. Invested in good soil and watered so more apple trees will grow.

This is why I blog: I'm investing the seeds into soil that will hopefully bear fruit. I do the planting, the growth is up to Him.

This is your takeaway: When He confides in you, receive the wisdom. Learn and grow. Then, invest it somewhere: Preserve it in a journal, blog it to the world, teach it to someone hungry, pray it to life, share it generously, live it out faithfully . . . do something with it.

To summarize: Be smart with the apples He throws your way and grow an orchard of trees with the seeds.

Lord, here am I. Ready and willing for your confidences (I think). Grow me. Help me to be ready. To be a conduit of your wisdom to the world. Here am I. Send me. Speak to me and through me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
