Psalm 138:8 “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever–do not abandon the works of your hands.” (NIV)*
Aspirations
abandoned on life’s beaches.
Maybe I tried too hard to follow–
threw in too much of me…
who is she?
…..
To save life
one must lose it–
losing doesn’t feel so great,
watching as others participate
hopes sit, as the parade…
passes by.
…..
The sand bucket
has been dumped out–
poured at his feet, shells and all.
I skip random rocks into an ocean
trying to make ripples…
really?
…..
Hopes
tossed heavenward,
toward an endless, bigger blue sky–
hoping for more than I can see.
Windblown efforts…
will they reach?
…..
How do I catch
the fluttering, aimless kite–
grab the tail and reign it in,
that empty feeling…
of purposeless?
…..
Tether to me, then,
be confident not in yourself
but in what I am doing through you.
Then, let your kite soar–
with purpose.
…..
….

Psalm 138:8, one of my all-time favorite verses, is in the June 20th reading of The One Year Bible. It keeps me tethered. Otherwise, I might fly away into and empty never-never land.
