How it Began

This blog began as a way to express inspiration from God’s Word. I was encouraged in the early days of my walk with the Lord to read the Bible daily. I like to journal thoughts and prayers from my devotional time, and this blog is a place to share it. Instead of “hiding it under a bushel,” as is my tendency, I’m putting the “light on a stand.”

Bible Inspiration

I like to read from The One Year Bible. Most of the posts through 2017 use verses drawn from The One Year Bible, copyright 1986, (NIV) Tyndale House Publishers, Wheaton, Illinois. After a seven year hiatus, I’m back, and will be utilizing The One Year Bible, copyright 2004, Tyndale House Publishers, for my morning devotions. This version draws from The Holy Bible, New International Version, 2011. However, although my posts are inspired by Scripture, I’m not necessarily following the order of The One Year Bible.

Poems and Photography

The poems are by me. Feel free to use them but please give appropriate credit! Some of the photos are mine, but I also enjoy using the photography of other people, made available through WordPress. A shoutout to these wonderful photographers!

My ponderings are not meant to be taken as final authority, formalized teaching or counsel. I reserve the right to be wrong! Scripture is a pursuit of mine — sustenance for the soul. There is so much I don’t understand. At times, things I thought I understood have not matched up with life and left me wondering. I rest in the fact that He is God.

I’m very aware that I’m not perfect. Please know my own heart has been sifted before I put the words out there. The Word of God is like that — if it brings a tear or a twinge — could be from Him and not me!
