The Lord is Always Good — Despite Me

For the Lord is always good. He is always loving and kind, and His faithfulness goes on and on to each succeeding generation.

When I neglect to do
what I know I should do —
because I am afraid,
He is good.

When I people-please,
because it feeds my soul —
as the Lord sits waiting,
He is good.

When I get stuck in a spin-cycle
of stress and anxiety —
overwhelmed with worry,
He is good.

When I slam into rock walls,
blinded by stubborn faults —
yet refuse to change,
He is good.

When I embrace discouragement,
which fuels self-pity —
which leaves me spiraling,
He is good.

Always, always, He is good —

Despite me.

Lord, in everything and at every turn, open my eyes to see Your goodness today, for You are good. Always.
