Born for color

Psalm 34:5 “Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.”*

Shame hangs gray and dull,

waits stuffed in chest of drawers.

It goes with everything, is the pull—

besides, it’s the only thing that fits anymore.

…..

Accustomed to bleak style

colors can beam too bright.

Haven’t tried anything new for awhile,

says a face shrunk taunt and tight.

…..

Radiant colors bide to be worn—

a closet of clothes that shine.

When you believe for colors you were born

and replace the grays of time.

We were never meant to wear shame. Whether self-imposed or stapled on by someone else, shame is not our color. Looking to Jesus, accepting what he’s done—handing him  the old clothes and accepting the new—that’s what we were made for. The colors of radiance.

Go ahead, wear it. It looks good on you.
