perfection’s plea

Matthew 26:39 “…he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will but as you will.'”*

fully human

perfection fell down

face parallel

to the man-trodden ground.

for this cup to be taken

his soul did cry

could this plan…

be revised?

if  divinity can honestly

pour heart’s plea

how much more then

dirt-shaped me.

……….

Jesus’ honesty took nothing away from his obedience. It was that crux of a moment when he put it out there and bared his soul to his Father. He owned a deeper determination to follow through with the Father’s plan.

If a holy Jesus bared his honest soul—then surely, so can I.

“…how much more then dirt-shaped me.” Perfect description of our fallen condition, but because “perfection” was willing to fall down, we are freed from that condition. How glorious! Your poems always bless me, Patty!

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
