You became mine

Ezekiel 16:8 “Later I passed by, and when I looked at you and saw that you were old enough for love, I spread the corner of my garment over you…I gave you my solemn oath and entered into a covenant with you…and you became mine.” (NIV)*

Remember, when I became yours

You covered me with love

Claimed my heart and healed my soul

Sacred promise, solemn oath.

So, let the world fall away

Words as arrows sent my way

Let them fall to the ground

Since this heart in you is bound.

Now, I find I’m not my own

All I am is yours to hold

Voices call but yours I choose

Your life to win—this world to loose.

As precious as the love of a husband, deeper still is the love of a Savior who saw and covered me with his garment of love. His oath is solemn and he holds me forever, filling a void an earthly husband’s love was never meant to satisfy. On July 18, 1974 I became his.
