Isaiah 33:6 “He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.” (NIV)*
To fear the Lord is to hold the key to his treasures of salvation, wisdom and knowledge. But…what does fear the Lord look like?
……….
To fear him is to have reverence
for who he is—
to acknowledge his position.
……….
To fear him is to respect his power
and his abilities—
so much so that I obey him.
……….
To fear him is to put him first
and honor him—
prioritize his purposes.
……….
To fear him is to learn what’s important to him
and care about his thoughts—
let go what others think.
……….
Many have held the keys to the kingdom of God (Noah, Moses, Joseph, Esther, Mary and Joseph, etc.) and known him as a sure foundation. Their lives were effective…so may mine be, too.
