John 12:24 “I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” (NIV)*
if i let go the branch
fall to the ground below,
let my will be buried there–
none of me to show.
…..
if i forsake my way
turn to him instead,
would one seed really multiply–
if i but his path tread?

A seed has to die before it can reproduce into many seeds. Holding on to this life by refusing to fall to the ground will cause the life cycle of the seed to stop.
Sometimes it’s difficult to let go of the branch and fall to the ground. We might like hanging in a pine tree with all the other maple seeds! It takes faith to let go.
Jesus set the example. He followed his father’s will by dying on a cross. His one seed planted brought life to many.
We don’t have to die on a cross! But, we do have the daily choice to let the seeds of our will fall to the ground and be planted. To live God’s way and let the seeds reproduce. Let one become many.

‘…let my will be buried there…’ A lofty goal for us all, indeed! đ

Patty, this is a lovely contemplative poem. It has me pondering what parts of me are still unburied?

I am learning that as I submit more and more to His will, He is teaching me to be truly me – the me He would have me be – it is such a beautiful thing indeed!
