Psalm 106:24-25 “Then they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe his promise. They grumbled in their tents and did not obey the Lord.” (NIV)*
why is it I forget
what he has done,
and don’t believe
what he will do?
……….
why this grumbling
over life ordinary,
am i so yoked
to the temporary?
……….
i still need him
on a path serene,
to keep me focused
on things unseen.
……….
stay ever near–
oh, that I would
keep following you,
in the pleasant land of good.

“oh that I would keep following you” … that is the something I keep praying lately … reminds me of the hymn Come Thou Fount … and the verse that goes
“O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.”
Thanks for always pointing us to the Lord, Patty!

Patty, this one reads like a song, a Psalm, and a prayer – nicely done!

Oh, dear. I am also one of the forgetful ones. I sometimes think I need to staple some truth to my forehead. I think it was Wendy who gently suggested sticky notes as a kinder alternative… 🙂
